Adult Croatian citizens can register a civil marriage, reserve a date and location, and pay fees through e-Citizens.

Choose a civil or religious form
For a civil marriage, arrange the ceremony before the registrar. For a religious marriage with civil effects, first obtain the registrar’s confirmation that conditions are met.
Prepare documents
Prepare necessary documents for both future spouses and additional documents where there is a special circumstance.
Register your intention with the registrar
Contact the registrar competent for the marriage location, check conditions and agree the next steps.
Agree the date, witnesses and surname
Confirm date and place with the registrar, prepare two adult witnesses with legal capacity, and agree surnames after marriage.
Marry
At the agreed date, attend the ceremony with two witnesses and give consent to civil marriage before the registrar.
Choose the date and location
In e-Marriage Registration, select a civil marriage, registry office, available date and official or approved external location.
Complete and confirm the application
One future spouse starts the application, while the other reviews, completes and confirms it in their User Inbox.
Pay the fees
After the registrar approves, pay administrative fees through the e-Fees system and follow application status.
Confirm witnesses and surname
Prepare two adult witnesses with legal capacity and confirm the agreement on surnames after marriage.
Marry before the registrar
The online service registers intention and reserves a date; the ceremony itself takes place in person before the registrar and two witnesses.
