Steps

In person at the police

    Check the medical certificate and test details

    The medical certificate must not be older than 15 months; attach the driving-test certificate only if you passed before 1 January 2018.

    Prepare documents for a police visit

    Bring proof of identity, required certificates and a photograph if the Ministry does not have a suitable photo from the past five years.

  3. 3

    Submit the application at a police administration or station

    An official prints a form that you confirm by signing, then you choose the regular, accelerated or urgent procedure.

    Pay production costs when applying

    Pay by bank card at the counter or attach proof of advance payment for the chosen production time.

  5. 5

    Wait for production and collect the driving licence

    Until delivery, you may drive in Croatia with proof of application for up to 30 days.

Online through e-Citizens

    Sign in to the driving-licence e-Application

    Sign in through e-Citizens with an activated eID card containing identification and signing certificates.

    Upload attachments and sign electronically

    The system retrieves the photo and signature from Ministry records; upload required certificates and proof of payment with the application.

    Choose collection or delivery

    Online offers only the regular procedure; choose collection at the police or delivery to your registered address.

    Wait for production and collect the driving licence

    Until delivery, you may drive in Croatia with proof of application for up to 30 days.

Important notes

  • A medical fitness certificate for the first driving licence must not be older than 15 months.
  • Proof of application permits driving only in Croatia and for no more than 30 days.
  • Online application is unavailable without an activated eID card with required certificates.

Common mistakes

  • Attaching an outdated medical certificate.
  • Bringing a photo even though the Ministry already has a suitable recent photo.
  • Assuming proof of submitted application permits driving abroad.
