    Need depends on category, professional use and restrictions recorded at the previous issue.

    Prepare documents for a police visit

    Bring the old driving licence, medical certificate when required and a photo if the Ministry does not have a suitable recent photo.

    Apply at the police and choose production time

    An official prints a form you sign; choose regular, accelerated or urgent procedure.

    Wait for production and collect the new driving licence

    When collecting, return proof of application if issued to you.

    Use an activated eID card with identification and signing certificate.

    Online offers only the regular procedure; choose police collection or delivery to your registered address.

Important notes

  • For professional and certain higher categories, a medical certificate may be mandatory.
  • Do not assume every expired driving licence can be renewed without a medical examination.

Common mistakes

  • Medical certificate is older than six months.
  • Submitting the application without checking restrictions and categories on the old licence.
  • Electronic identity-card certificates are not activated for online application.
